Can a Board of Management Chairman sign as the ‘Owner’ of statutory documents?

The chairman of a board of any company (i.e. community, voluntary, charity, or commercially based) has roles and responsibilities. If the board are also building owners, then a designated board member must sign this statutory document – as is usually defined in the memorandum/articles of association.

The person who signs the document as the owner must be competent to do so, and in a position to accept any enforcement notices etc. on the board’s behalf. There is no difference for the owner of a private house/company.

A check with the legal advisor, and of the board’s articles and memorandum of association is recommended.
